Purpose of the Role

Generate & manage sales from the Interior Design service offered to Lee Longland customers, providing a first class, end to end ‘Interior Design’ customer experience, synonymous with a premium brand.

Create partnerships with local, external, Interior Designers so that Lee Longlands is their supplier / partner of choice.

Create additional B2B routes to market by exploring & generating trade sale opportunities.

Part of the buying team, providing challenge & advice (such as forward trends) with responsibility for the accessories buying, to ensure the full lifestyle look is achieved & is on brand.

Being the Visual Merchandising expert for the business, providing guidance to each showroom to ensure all range settings & displays are on brand & fully co-ordinated.

Key Functional Duties

  • Manage the full end to end Interior Design service offering from lead creation to customer design board to full 3D ‘to scale’ floor plans through to product sourcing & fulfilment of order
  • Work with Ecom manager to ensure the Interior Design page of the website is current & on brand
  • Work closely with showrooms to ensure they are creating additional Interior Design leads
  • Create relationships & partnerships with local interior designers (local to each showroom) so that they consider Lee Longlands to be their retailer of choice
  • Create additional B2B routes to market by exploring & generating trade sale opportunities such as flooring contracts, property development partnerships, private hospital & school partnerships (etc etc)
  • Continually review market trends & consumer preferences to anticipate forward demands so that future product offerings are aligned with forward trends
  • Attend relevant trade shows & participate in industry events to gather insights on new products, materials & innovations, which will help with forward buying strategies
  • Collaborate with the buying team to advise & contribute on product selection & direction
  • Advise on the colour palette for upcoming ranges, ensuring they are aligned with relevant trends & brand identity
  • Offer constructive challenge to the buyers, providing a critical perspective to ensure product choices are well-rounded & cater for both market trends & business objectives
  • Help create ‘buy the look’ by assisting in creating lifestyle collections that include rugs, pictures, mirrors, coffee tables & lamp tables, making it easier for customers to envisage the complete room design
  • Become the Visual Merchandising expert for the business by overseeing store layouts & product range displays to ensure they are visually appealing, on brand & all items fit within the relevant trend category
  • Responsible for the Flagship showrooms window displays
  • Provide content ideas for the social media department
  • Provide feedback on the weekly customer emails, when product / trend driven
  • Offer challenge & ideas for the marketing brochures from a customer / trend perspective, identifying & recommending relevant products that fit the appropriate trend categories
  • Develop relationships with key collaboration partners
  • Periodically review the website to ensure the online presentation of new products is on brand & seamlessly flows to match the showroom customer / shopping experience in terms of style, quality & premium visual appeal

Candidate Profile

  • Resides within easy access of Birmingham city centre with ability & willingness to travel to group showroom locations & various trade shows
  • Experienced Interior Designer with relevant industry qualification, used to dealing directly with the end consumer
  • Experience of relevant Interior Design software applications
  • Passion for furniture with perpetual focus on forward trends  
  • Ability to be the companies expert with regards to Visual Merchandising, ensuring the right accessories are placed with the right products within the appropriate trend categories
  • Has a keen interest regarding social media
  • Outgoing personality with the strength of character to be able to challenge at all levels of the business, being able to influence by using constructive, industry & trend knowledge
  • Ability to forge strong relationships both internally & externally
  • Exceptional communicator with strong negotiation skills
  • Extremely organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, whilst working well under pressure
  • Pro-active self-starter with ability to prioritise
  • Thrives working at a high level of autonomy
  • Positive, flexible with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Able to roll their sleeves up & ‘get the job done’, which may mean stepping outside their usual, functional, comfort zone
  • Experience of B2B routes to market preferred but not essential
